Information Systems Security
  • (INFOSEC) The protection afforded to information systems in order to preserve the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of the systems and information contained within the systems. Such protection is the application of the combination of all security disciplines which will, at a minimum, include COMSEC, TEMPEST, computer security, OPSEC, information security, personnel security, industrial security, resource protection, and physical security.   • The protection of information systems against unauthorized access to or modification of information, whether in storage, processing or transit, and against the denial of service to authorized users or the provision of service to unauthorized users, including those measures necessary to detect, document, and counter such threats.
