Contamination
  • The introduction of data of one sensitivity and need-to-know with data of a lower sensitivity or different need-to-know. This can result in the contaminating data not receiving the required level of protection. (AFR 205-16;)
  • The intermixing of data at different sensitivity and need-to-know levels. The lower level data is said to be contaminated by the higher level data. This can result in the contaminating data not receiving the required level of protection. (NCSC-WA-001-85;)
  • A peril involving the altering of an asset to behave in an improper manner (frequently the source of computer fraud). (RM;)
