Reference Validation Mechanism
- An implementation of the reference monitor concept. A security kernel is a particular (but not the only) type of a reference validation mechanism. (NCSC-WA-001-85;)
- Portion of a trusted computing base, the normal function of which is to control access between subjects and objects, and the correct operation of which is essential to the protection of data in the system. NOTE: This is the implementation of reference monitor. See Trusted Computing Base (TCB).
